Recent Feedback For The Placebo Gazette

I am a doctor by profession and stumbled upon the site while surfing the net. How is it that it is not advertised on the various medical sites? This would enable more of us to share this site more easily. I am very happy that i came across it by chance. I hope those thousands of other Doctors out there do not face such a fate as me!  Thank you and keep up the good work. - Dr. Amarjeet Singh Gill

Family doc. A copy was forwarded to me by a colleague and it made me laugh out loud. Given the needs of my patients, the funding constraints of our health care system and the system demands for productivity that try to crush me daily, I need a little humor to keep from crying. - Pam Pentin

Emergency Physician. Got a copy of placebo journal a while back and then a solicitation came over email somehow! Hurray! I'm a neurologist at a VA hospital. Even though I can't relate to everything in your newsletter as I'm not in private practice, nor work for an HMO, there are certain universal truths. (I have my own set of problems at the VA). It is comforting (!) to read this newsletter, because it makes me realize I'm not alone with all the frustrations a medical career has to offer. I think I might have signed up a while back, but I never received anything in the mail. I would like to keep receiving your e-newsletter. Thanks! - Marian Sowa

This email was very entertaining and provided me with some lighthearted solace while taking a break during lunch. I particularly liked the quote about operating on a patient you don't like, and also the quote about how would you like a terrorist to be in charge of homeland security. Thanks for the laughter; we all need this in our everyday life.  - Buddy Horwitz

Just remember, half of the bar sues us, the other half defends us. (I. e. One lawyer in town starves to death, two lawyers soon own the town)
Going to the law is like killing the milk cow for the meat, and giving the hide to the lawyer. (14th Cen. Saying).
“The first thing we do is kill all lawyers” (Shakespeare, Henry IV)  - Wayne Wheeler, Esq.

Just listened to all your radio spots. Keep up the good work! I just wanted to say,"Right on, brother!" I am a radiologist. One of my pet peeves is getting denied payment for a study I read because the insurance company says it was not indicated. What do I have to do with that? The ordering physician tells the patient to get the study, it is done, and the images are sent to me to read. I do my job quickly and with care. I help the patient and the doctor. Then, why shouldn't I be paid for my work? Ok, this is not so funny. I will think of something else. Thanks for doing this Placebo stuff. I needed it.  - Mark D. Herbst, M.D., Ph.D.

I'm a faithful reader of your Gazette and enjoy each issue. One may rightfully say I am a Placebo Gazette junkie.  Your Faithful Reader,  - Tim G. Bate,

I am a nursing student at MCV in Richmond, VA. I had never heard of the Placebo Journal until my father, a local Psychiatrist, received a free subscription for submitting a story. Not only do I find your journal and e-newsletter incredibly entertaining, I am hoping that one of these days I will be able to start a similar type thing in the Nursing community one day (though, as Im sure all of you MDs know, nurses typically have much less of a sense of humor about patients!) We'll see- if a journal comes out in the next few years called "Shift Differential" or "Call Bell", consider yourself an inspiration!  - Kate Jennings

Orthopedic surgeon; it just showed up on my email one day and I liked it.  - David Lintner
